Thor: Athelas (Loki/Thor)
Whooo, story awayyyy! \o/
Heads up on this one: the setup involves torture, including rape. Give this one a miss if that's a dealbreaker for you, or you can skim to the first scene break.

There was a sharp and bitter edge crept into the words, a reminder that not all was well: that Thor still had a brother, but not a friend.

Have to ask though, Athelas? The healing herb from LOTR? I'm thinking the hands of the king are the hands of a healer, but then is Odin king here with his apples? Or Loki too in the whole ice-transformation kind of way? Or perhaps there's some other use of the word I'm not privy to?
Ideas which especially appealed to me:
-That Loki sits in the cave entrance and spins. He must have learned it from his mother, Frigga. She is the one who - for example - spins the clouds for the sky. The image of little!Loki sitting on her knees in her cool and shady rooms and learning her craft and magic while Thor is somewhere out in the glaring sunlight, brawling and learning to fight with his friends. Both content in their own way.
- Oh, and how Jotun make love. That both participants are equally joined and it’s absolutely mutual. Not one sticking something of his into the other, even if it´s nice enough, this is way better. Best idea ever. If the world were made new, I would vote for this, everyone would be much happier. :-)
- The Leaves of Annuvin, really had class and elegance. They fit Loki excellent. If my Google-fu is right, Annuvin was the realm of death, so the name for the moths is quite fitting.
- And last but not least, how Jotun experience snow and cold. The description of the cushy softness and how it got to be their element that would serve them effortlessly. How happy and content they were.
Oh, I’m sure they were lonely and Thor missed his friends, but they had each other and had to answer to no one else.
Wonderfull work, thank you for sharing.
So anyway... yes. And this story goes in places I never dreamed of but it is all wonderful and fascinating -- from Loki's solution to giving Thor the time he will need (cutting it a bit close, are we?), and how through it all shines the way Thor experiences (most of) life with joy and exuberance, so of course his experience as a Jotun is going to be completely at odds with Loki's, and then how badass Loki is with all the duels, AND AND AND! (I have to confess that the only part that gave me pause was that the villains at the very start had managed to put Mjolnir on the wall. I'm curious about your explanation for that: was their being able to do that, at least, part of the spells in the room that were able to hold and depower Thor? I came to the conclusion that their being able to move it wasn't the same as their being able to wield it, and quickly moved on, but still am curious.)
Plus! -- you give GREAT Avengers. Your Tony is consistently hilarious and so very believably HIM ("and that will fix everything!" *disaster follows*), and Steve is a great foil to that, and Bruce! You did wonderful things with even a small part for Bruce, and I loved that even when he was being the Hulk, Tony continued to think of him as "Banner" (such a small touch, but very telling, and I'm not even sure how often it is done). And how they were all so very worried for and wanting to rescue Thor as soon as possible warmed my fangirl heart. Now that we've seen all of them (well, except Ruffalo's Banner -- and oh god, it's going to be nearly impossible to keep from typing "RuffaLOL" as time goes on), I only want EVEN MORE to see them interact and be a team and oh god the next 9 months is going to be soooooo lonnnnnng.
In conclusion: HOORAY!
Mjolnir on the wall, I er, hadn't exactly worked it out! I did have in my head that the room was a sort of ancient sacrificial chamber, and the runes and the carved table somehow undermined Thor's power (and Mjolnir's) in a way that enabled them to make him prisoner, so let's say that the same thing allowed them to get the hammer up on the wall inside the room. ;)
And omg yes, I cannot WAIT for Avengers. :'( It is TOO FAR AWAYYYYY.
I haven't watched Thor but I love this story so much and plan to watch the movie.
I love Loki. Although he's not kind or anything near that,he's just perfect in many ways. I love the way he always act so calmly and then when he lost his control in the last confrontation between him and Thor, It just makes his feeling more intense.
I love the scenes which he has stayed beside Thor for 126 year and always try to avoid him himself causing any "harm" to Thor (and I like that it always not turn out like he wishes).
I love Thor. He is full of optimism for the future despite his many problems. The way he reacts when he becomes a snow giant, his protection and unquestioning believe for his brother, and the way he respect his brother pride in the end just makes me like him more.
It's quite interesting when some scenes show the divine natures of the brothers, like the way they treat about time and death.
And Tony? I love all the decision he makes. Some good decision, some bad decision. But mostly good.
PS: I'm a little bit confuse about the timeline between the ten year isolation of Thor with Loki and the time when the avenger come to the past searching the brothers in three places. Can you explain it a bit please?
To be honest, usually I just skip story involved rape scene, but I think you do a good job for writing it in a subtle way that I'm comfortable with. What to my surprise is that I think this setup is necessary for the time travel happened.
I feel sorry for Thor as he has experienced hunger and cold for nearly ten years, and furthermore, he can't even stay near Loki for a few years if I'm not mistaken.
As the story is mostly based on Thor's POV, I keep guessing what is Loki thinking or feeling whenever Thor reacts to all the problem and changes that happen between them. I think Thor mostly reacts positively and this soften Loki up somehow.
I really like the time when Thor and Loki are stuck in the past.I think it's the healing period for both parties. I'm glad it all turns out fine.
Sorry, 'm just keep rambling. I should stop now. Look forward to your next fic\^o^/
Thor and Loki have intercourse (Awesome coequal intercourse). Yay! Really, thumbs up. But (and here it comes) they lived quite a while in their Jotun forms and had sex. We know that Loki has children, so he is fertile (both ways), and Thor also fathered children, so it stands to reason that all his parts work fine.
They are relatively happy, are well feed, don´t have any stress to speak of and there are no environment toxins yet. They even stay locked together after sleeping together and so the genetic carrier doesn’t run out again. Why isn´t one of them pregnant? *whines* It would have caused chaos without end for the following plot but I love myself some happy, healthy mini-Thor/Lokis.
They even could both simultaneously gotten pregnant...

I really should stop now.
Anyway. Like I said in the first comment, wonderful story, thank you so much.
first I was thrilled that the website worked so well on my droid browser, then I freaked out because you had new fic up, then I shut up and read Athelas 3 times before my battery died.
This is the best story I have ever read.
I thought the World Turned Over and Beautiful Lifetime Event were really amazing fanfic, but this is THE BEST STORY LIEK EVAR. Better than any classical or bestselling lit... I cannot express the perfect! Every single thing about this is WIN WIN WIN.
...um, so I really liked it. Just in case that wasn't coming across. ahem.
<3 LOVE <3 (I'm just going to go away now and print this and laminate it and put it in my zombie apocalypse/emergency backpack because it needs to be preserved for future generations :)
Thank you! I don't know how you feed the kid AND write. I get exhausted just babysitting! ...If you need a babysitter to get more writing time in, come to Vegas ;)))))
